ABOUT SHOALIES
The Shoalies Club is a relatively new club, established in 2019. It started from the passion our President, Jodie Simms has for hockey itself but especially the involvement and development of juniors in the sport. Jodie, our committee and passionate team of members are dedicated to providing quality service to our members, meeting community needs and fostering the growth of our players, coaches, umpires and administrators.
The club's home turf is the hockey facility at Bernie Regan Sporting Complex in North Nowra. We are lucky to be able to utilise this contemporary, top quality water based turf. In addition to weekly club hockey games, the turf is also used for school hockey games, clinics, development programs and social hockey days such as 'come and try' days. We are also looking forward to hosting gala days and tournaments.
As a non-profit sporting club, our fundamental focus is with continuing to encourage participation in sport and support inclusivity and community. Over the past year we were delighted to enter several men's and women's teams and a juniors team into the Illawarra hockey competition.
We pride ourselves on being a family friendly club catering for all ages, skills and abilities across junior and senior teams. We are currently working on a few exciting projects that will widen our array of teams, improve our facility and increase the accessibility of hockey to population groups under-represented in participation including Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities, people with disability and First Nations peoples.
